The F Word Review
Reality Television has made a great impact on the minds of the people and is continuing to do so. The different genres offer a lot of information to the people. However, the traditional television show has not lost its sheen. It can still garner high television ratings.
However, the electronic media does not reach out to all people. The print media viz. newspapers, magazines, and the like are still in vogue. Optomen Television has effectively combined the electronic and print media to present a cooking magazine and a weekly television show, called The F Word.

Now, before you draw any conclusions, the F in The F word stands for “Food”. This show features famous chef Gordon James Ramsay and is currently broadcast on Channel 4. In the United States, it is currently being aired on BBC America. This show is basically about Ramsay, his varied recipes, and his cooking. This is also referred to sometimes as a brigade competition. One can also see why the world calls Gordon Ramsay a “perfectionist chef”. He is seen poring over even the smallest of details and one can learn a lot of inside tips. The show also includes snippets on celebrities and the foods that are considered fashionable.
One gets to see Chef Ramsay at work in the kitchen, preparing three course meals for his guests. Till now, four seasons have been aired. Each season was filmed at a different location, the first location being Ladbroke Grove in West London. Each season has a different theme and sometimes, celebrities are featured on the show. Chef Ramsay’s notoriety as a foul mouthed chef is justified in this show, but Ramsay himself has said that it is only a part of his television alter-ego. The second season was filmed at a restaurant called Deep, at Imperial Wharf in London.
Another interesting practice followed here is the rearing of livestock. After the animals grow, they are slaughtered and used in the dishes. Most episodes carry a content warning because of the uncensored videos of killing of the animals in abattoirs and farms. After the first season was released, a survey in the United Kingdom found that more women were now attracted to cooking as a result of the “Get Women Back in the Kitchen” theme that prevailed throughout the season. Often, Chef Ramsay’s thoughts are too fast for the average viewer to follow, and there are books being written to decipher some of his recipes!
Chef Ramsay often stresses on the importance of fresh ingredients. He gathers them himself, and then sets out to make any dish. The other seasons followed “Sunday Lunch”, “Fast Food and Junk Food” as their themes. In the most recent season, celebrities begin to appear and they try their hand at cooking offbeat dishes and recipes. The fifth season will go on air soon, and the first four seasons have already been released on DVD. This show has topped the television rating charts for quite some time now.
